Motorcycles using renewable energy question.

Question:

Given a normal ICE motorcycle power to weight ratio and all benifits that go with them (like going down the center of the lane in traffic and being way cool) has anyone ever bothered installing alternative fuel engines in one? I saw a doco once on the ABC (Australian ABC not US) about pure electric engines in motorbikes in america that pulled close to 50 kmp/h.  Anyone know about this? Stuart.

Response:

I’ve ridden both electric bikes, as well as biodiesel fueled bikes. http://www.peace65.freeserve.co.uk/Pictures/diesel.htm http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_bikes.html — Steve Spence Renewable energy and sustainable living http://www.green-trust.org Discuss vegetable oil and biodiesel powered diesels at http://www.veggievan.org/discuss/

Response:

And that makes you a better person? I spend more time on peddle bikes than motor vehicles.

Response:

I was answering the question, "has anyone ever bothered installing alternative fuel engines in one?". I’m too far from town to use a peddlebike, and my clients are 75 miles in either direction. Does it make me a better a better person that I’ve driven a biodiesel bike? No, but it was a neat experience. Does it make me a better person that I use a clean renewable fuel instead of a dirty non-renewable on in my daily commute? absolutely. — Steve Spence Renewable energy and sustainable living http://www.green-trust.org Discuss vegetable oil and biodiesel powered diesels at http://www.veggievan.org/discuss/
